Uldis Zarins

zarins.jpg Uldis Zarins is the head of the Digital Library at The National Library of Latvia since August 2009. Despite having an academic background in library and information science it is his first position at a library. Previously he has used his information processing skills in embassies of foreign governments, Internet news portals, and other Web ventures. As head of the Digital Library he is directly responsible for the results of digitisation projects at the National Library of Latvia. At the same time he is deeply involved in the creation of a national digitisation framework, copyright aspects of library work and involvement of the National Library of Latvia in international bodies (IFLA, The European Library, Europeana etc.).
