Abstract

Scholarship has dramatically changed over the course of the last twenty years with the rapid expansion of digital technologies and connectivity on a global basis. This paper examines the development of a scholarly Internet-only journal, First Monday, as an exemplar of the evolution of scholarly communication in the form of journal publication. Advances in technology and their academic application suggest that more sophisticated tools will appear in the near future for institutions and researchers.
