Abstract

The HIV/AIDS surveillance system in Enugu State was evaluated. The objectives of the evaluation was to describe the attributes and process of operation of the system, to determine if the set objectives for establishing the surveillance system are met and to determine the efficiency and effectiveness of the system.We evaluated the system using the Centres for Disease Control guidelines for evaluating surveillance systems(2001).We qualitatively assessed the system's key attributes and usefulness.The system is passive,useful, stable,flexible,timely but not representative,sensitive nor simple.The resource to maintain the system are inadequate.
